Do people really buy broken cameras off ebay?

I have a broken Pentax Optio A10 that works perfectly fine aside from the fact that the LCD screen is broken. Someone told me that people actually like this and buy them off ebay for parts, or just repair them themselves and re-sell them. I have no problem with this, haha. I just personally wouldn’t buy something broken off of ebay. Also if it IS true, what should I make my starting bid ?

almost any broken camera is not worth much even for parts. look around on ebay for your camera’s selling price..then cut it by 1/3 because its broken..you can start it at $1 and have a minimum price of whatever you will accept for it.

Yes, there are two kinds of people who buy these cameras (for parts).
Some are camera and lens technicians who are always looking in the “bone yard” for camera and lens parts they can use when new parts become unavailable.
Some are people who are handy and think they can “fix” anything and buy a nice “cheap” broken camera and hope they can get it working.
That is pretty much it. The cost for these cameras and lenses? Probably less than it costs to ship them.
In your case you didn’t tell us why you did not have the camera repaired. After all you still have a lens or two, right?

Good luck selling it i would never buy it.
