I wouldn’t worry about it if you are only selling small amounts on eBay, but technically yes you should be declaring it and paying tax on it as you are already earning £14500 over the £4500 limit.

Yes you use your personal allowance with your wages so any other money earned is taxable.

If you are only selling your own surplus items then you are not trading and the taxmean does not need to know.

But the way you worded your question implies that you are buying items to resell. In this case you are running a business and should declare any profits.

Paying basic rate tax (22%) on the profits might seem a lot but compare it to earning extra money with overtime in your job. You would still pay 22% there and also another 11% national insurance!

My working life and am now retired whatever extra money you will need to pay more than earned for any year of my working life and am now retired whatever extra money you dont declare all ebay.
